Birgit, Cole, And Cosmo
Birgit is a classically beautiful rider, and she's done so much nice work with Cole. It's been a long road for these two, and I can empathize - I have Cole's half brother, and he's no day at the beach either! Cosmo was there that day too, to help his mom untack and then go for a walk in the grass.

WDCTA Weekend Clinic With Janet Brown Foy
Special thanks to all the ladies who rode in this clinic this weekend and provided me with some really fantastic opportunities! As always, this clinic was informational as an auditor, and it was a treat to see riders work through some of the issues and come out so much more improved on the other side. Well done, ladies!

Betty & Gigi - Kate's Asses
Yes, more asses. These belong to my Dressage instructor, Kate. Betty and Gigi are named for their former owner's relatives. Go ahead and insert your joke here regarding your own relatives.
I have now decided that I'd like at least five of these little guys, because why not? Then I'll have a much better chance of finding at least one ass with both hands...

Bree & Pecos
What a gorgeous horse! Paints are always nice, but this one is really flashy! Of course, Bree is pretty cute too, and her relationship with Pecos is really sweet. Although some of our help was unavailable, we did have some, well, 'ass'istance from Peco's pasturemates:
Special thanks to Dr. Hoelscheur of Country View Vet Service and his wife for the use of their facility even though I didn't really get the beer I was promised... maybe next time? :)

MARES Meeting at Gibson Training Center
Whew! What a week! Although the weather since has been horrible, the meeting, held Saturday, April 5th, had beautiful weather and great presentations by Kirk Dailey of Purina, Gary Gibson of Gibson Training, and Dr. Judy Batker of Country View Vet Service. There was a huge turnout! The presenters gave away lots of door prizes too - I got a cool horse shampoo that attaches directly to a hose. Can't wait for the first bath of the year! I bet I'll be wearing all the dirt that comes off my horse!
The next MARES meeting is Tuesday, May 13th at Three Gaits, featuring Susan Peterson of Kindred Spirits Equine Massage. Who doesn't love a good massage?
Contact me or go here for more information on becoming a MARES member.

First Post of the Year

Well, I have a blog now. Now, I can sit and wax philosophical about anything, and the whole world is welcome to read it. I hope I have useful things to say!
I photographed Lori Wegner's new mustang project this morning. She's taking part in the Midwest Mustang Challenge. He's a cute little bay Spanish-type horse who seems well-adjusted to life with humans. I will say that the shoot was not the bronc-fest you might expect from a mustang. Cool.

I'll be checking in with Lori again in the spring.
